PRESS RELEASE: Vocational learners rewarded at Exeter College?s Skills Awards

Exeter College has hosted its annual Skills Awards to reward its vocational learners.     


The ceremony was held at Sandy Park Rugby Stadium on Dec 9 with awards presented to 15 NVQ achievers, a Train to Gain student and an Employer of the Year.  Categories included driving goods vehicles, light vehicles, heavy vehicles, vehicle body repair, electrical, plumbing, brickwork, carpentry, engineering, hospitality and catering, business and IT, supporting teaching and learning, health and social care, children’s care, learning and development and hairdressing.     


The awards were presented by Bernard Keogh, the Managing Director of Arque Ltd, a construction company in Upton Pyne, just outside Exeter.      


Emma Pearce from Kingsteington was named the apprentice of the year for supporting teaching and learning at St Luke’s Science and Sports College in Exeter.  Driving goods vehicle apprentice winner was Daniel Battershall from Heathfield, Newton Abbot, who completed his training at Wessex D A F in Heathfield Industrial Estate.  Leanne Powell from Dawlish was awarded as best hospitality and catering apprentice for her work at Mount Pleasant Inn in Dawlish Warren.  Electrical advance apprentice winner was Christian Crowther-Smith from Chagford who did his training at G & T Services, Exeter Business Park.
