We’re proud to be Chartered Building Company - find out more about this, our commitment to the environment, health and safety, and our other professional qualifications below.
Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
Arque are one of the few Chartered Building Companies in Devon. This status cannot be bought and rigorous qualification requirements are in place for all CBC executive directors, who are expected to ensure the continuous development of their staff. Our membership of the CIOB gives clients total confidence in our business.
Through the CIOB we are independently assessed and regularly audited to show we:
- are competently and professionally run
- operate to high business and ethical standards
- are committed to developing a fully qualified workforce
- have a significant number of directors that are already Chartered, either with CIOB or other related organisations.
ISO14001 and 9001
As an SME, Arque is extremely proud to have attained both its ISO14001 and 9001 certifications. These are awarded to companies who have shown a high degree of dilligience and accountability in its standards of Quality and Environmental Management Systems. To attain these we had to review our processes and have them independently audited to ensure they were up to standard. This is a certification that few other companies of our size have, and we are proud to be on this list.
At Arque we care about the environment. Where possible we seek to reduce our carbon footprint by actively minimising and reducing waste, reusing and recycling materials. Not only is this good for the environment, it makes us more efficient. We also use sustainable materials when we can and advise our clients on environmentally friendly materials and products.
We have put in place an Environmental Management System (EMS), and we have also been awarded the highest premier level of Green Accord by Exeter City Council. Green Accord is a proven environmental accreditation that demonstrates best practice, sustainable working, and evidences green credentials.

HEALTH AND SAFETY AND TRAINING
Health and safety
Health and safety is paramount in any contract we undertake. We are accredited by the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) which means we employ independent safety advisors to inspect our sites and keep us updated. We carry out regular H&S training to maintain awareness of issues and exceed the requirements of legislation. All our site staff and managers hold CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) cards.
We are committed to training our staff. We want our people to enjoy their work and fulfil their potential. From our youngest apprentice, to our most experienced manager, we invest in relevant training.
All our staff regularly update their qualifications to ensure we meet and exceed industry standards.
