Managing Director

WIth a rich tapestry of over 30 years in managing construction projects for various large-scale companies, Bernard brings a wealth of seasoned expertise to every endeavour. He founded Arque with a vision to infuse a more personal, cooperative approach into the building of quality projects, establishing a reputation for steering contracts to timely and budget-accurate completions with a professional, amicable approach. A full member of the Chartered Institute of Building, Bernard seamlessly intertwines industry standards and innovative practices.

Bernard finds solace surfing the North coasts of Devon and Cornwall, embracing the ebb and flow of the waves as a refreshing counterpoint to the structured                                                                                                                               precision of his professional world.

Nigel Parker

Operations Manager

Navigating operations at Arque since 2016, Nigel brings 25+ years of expertise in managing construction projects with a meticulous, client-centered approach. His porfessional journey, woven through numerous notable local building companies exemplifies a commitment to delivering contracts both punctually and within budget. Away from the structured world of operations management, Nigel embraces the challenge and exhilaration of marathon running, where his discipline and endurance are tested and showcased on a different kind of track. He also warmly serves as the Boardroom Host at Exeter City Football Club.

Martyn Phillips

Contracts Manager

Boasting 30 years in the construction industry, including 14 years at Arque, Martyn exemplifies mastery in steering small works and contracts to successful completion. His deep-seated knowledge and an unwavering commitment to client satisfaction ensure projects are not only brought in on time and budget but also exceed client expectations. Martyn holds esteemed qualifications, such as an Advanced Carpentry Certificate and the CITB Construction Site Safety Manager's Certificate, solidifying his reputable stance in managing contracts adeptly, while meticulously aligning client visions with tangible outcomes, ensuring fruitful and mutually beneficial project collaborations.

JJ Cooper

Contracts Manager

Efficiently managing projects at Arque, JJ integrates impeccable planning and a high level of organization, a dedication to detail inherited from his tenure in Aerospace R&D, where precision is paramount. His meticulous attitude seamlessly translates to delivering high-value projects across Devon. While professional achievements keep him on his toes, JJ finds serenity in Devon's moors and beaches with family, and thrill in wakeboarding and skiing, weaving a balanced tapestry of disciplined work and cherished leisure.

Rob Balkwill

Contracts Manager

With over two decades in construction, Rob is an astute contracts manager. His expertise lies in handling diverse projects with precision, ensuring client satisfaction at every juncture. His organisational acumen and exemplary communication skills set him apart in the industry. Outside of his proffesional sphere, Rob is a passionate rugby enthusiast. He relishes cycling through the scenic vistas of Devon, immersing himself in its pristine beauty.

Lloyd Phelps

Senior Estimator 

Lloyd boasts a decade in estimating and 4 years in on-site operations, offering a rich understanding of varied industry sectors. His keen eye for detail and dedication to precision produce top-notch, cost-effective estimates. He ensures accurate cost projections while maintaining the end product's excellence. Outside of work, he's an avid runner and manages Sandford Football Club.

Ian Theedom

Commercial Manager 

Having spent 17 years as a site-based quantity surveyor, Ian brings extensive experience from projects across the South West to Arque's expanding commercial team. His profound insights combined with his commercial expertise ensure timely and budget-aligned project delivery. When not at work, Ian dedicates time to his family, mentors young talent at Sandford Cricket Club, indulges in running, and enjoys rugby matches.

Louise Tremayne

Health, Safety and Compliance Manager

With 12 years at Arque, Louise transitioned from office management to concentrate on Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality. Tasked with upholding our stringent standards, she oversees accreditations like ISO9001 and ISO14001. Off duty, Louise runs her Therapy business and enjoys walking.

Michelle Harris

Office Manager

Michelle anchors Arque's daily functions with her profound administrative experience spanning national and local governments, as well as the private sector. Her dedication ensures fluid office processes. Outside of work, she's celebrated for her cheesecakes, relishing in gardening, music, and cherishing moments with her family.

Becky Poole

Finance Manager

Becky has accumulated a wealth of experience in the finance field. She's characterized by her meticulous attention to detail and an unyielding commitment to ensure the company's financial stability. Supported by her prestigious FMAAT accounting qualification, Becky has consistently showcased her proficiency in maintaining balanced books. Outside the realm of finance, she passionately runs her own bookkeeping business and deeply values the quality moments spent with her family.
